Prabowo Subianto, the Minister of Defense, has officially handed over five NC-212i aircraft produced by PT Dirgantara Indonesia (PTDI) to the Indonesian Air Force at Halim Perdanakusuma Airbase in Jakarta. The handover ceremony took place on Tuesday (12/12).
During the handover, Prabowo emphasized that the NC-212i, as a domestic defense equipment, has the capability to perform various tasks such as aerial photography, aerial navigation, and weather modification, including artificial rain. He also expressed his pride in PTDI and expressed hope that the domestic defense industry will continue to enhance its capabilities until it is able to independently produce combat defense equipment.
The symbolic handover of keys from Prabowo to the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Air Force (Wakasau) Air Marshal A. Gustaf Brugman marked the official transfer of the five NC-212i aircraft. These aircraft are intended to strengthen the 4th Air Squadron within the 2nd Air Wing at the Abdulrachman Saleh Airbase in Malang, East Java.
Prabowo stressed the importance of a strong air force for Indonesia and stated that it is a necessity for a modern sovereign country. He also emphasized the need for a strong military that operates jointly across the three forces and functions as a modern unified part of the country.
