Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto, the presidential candidate number two, responded to an invitation to Deddy Corbuzier’s podcast, which was uploaded on Youtube on Tuesday (13/2). On that occasion, Prabowo stated that even though the current situation is much easier compared to the past, there are still many Indonesian people who are not prosperous.
“There are still many of our brothers and sisters who are struggling. There are many conveniences, but some of our people have not been able to enjoy them. Sometimes there are those who find it very difficult to eat,” he said.
Prabowo then revealed that he had received reports about children who only eat rice, salt, and onions without any side dishes, even though they live not far from the capital.
“So I received reports, not far from the capital, let’s say 2-3 hours from the capital, these children only eat rice with salt, with garlic, with shallots,” he said.
“And in some areas, there are also those who sadly only eat once or twice every two days,” he added.
Deddy then asked what Prabowo’s dream is for the future. He immediately answered that he wants to see the people living well and safely. Prabowo wants all the people to be able to meet their basic needs.
“I think it’s very simple, Indonesia where its people live well. Live safely, harmoniously. Safety means being safe from hunger, safe from disease, safe from difficulty in finding a job, safe for their families so they can get health services, and have access to good schools. That’s what we call basic needs,” he added.
Nevertheless, the progress of the nation is also extraordinary, with 20 percent of the population categorized as middle class. Therefore, the next step is to continue to promote prosperity comprehensively.
“We have many extraordinary success stories. Our middle class is extraordinary, the figure I heard and can be checked is that we have about 20 percent of 270 million. So roughly 55 million people are already in the middle class,” he said.
“But that’s only 20 percent, what about the other 80 percent. I believe we can do it,” concluded Prabowo. (SENOPATI)
