Residents of the Fishermen’s Village in Muara Angke, North Jakarta, expressed their gratitude for the floating and stilt homes provided by Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto on Saturday, April 13th.
Iwan Susilo, a beneficiary, shared his joy and appreciation for the comfortable and well-built homes. He mentioned that he could never afford such a house on his own and sometimes struggles to afford basic necessities like food.
Delina, another resident, also expressed happiness and gratitude for Prabowo’s assistance in providing the floating and stilt homes for the community.
In addition to the homes, the villagers also received Eid gift packages containing educational supplies for the children. The children were thrilled with their new black school bags and expressed their gratitude to Mr. Prabowo.
Annisa, another resident, described the contents of the packages, which included school essentials like pencil cases, books, and socks.
A total of 16 floating homes and 12 stilt homes, covering an area of 9 square meters each, were distributed by the Ministry of Defense to 18 families or 80 individuals in an effort to improve the welfare of the community, which often faces flood disasters and erosion.
The project also included the development of green public spaces and amenities such as a desalination unit to provide fresh water from seawater for the villagers.
