Jakarta — President-elect Prabowo Subianto, who will assume office for the term 2024-2029, has called on his supporters and volunteers from the Prabowo-Gibran alliance to maintain peace and unity in Indonesia by refraining from participating in any mass protests at the Constitutional Court.
“I want to make it clear,” Prabowo said, “I sincerely urge all Indonesians, especially the 96.2 million who supported the Prabowo-Gibran ticket, to avoid any form of protest outside the Constitutional Court or any other location. We must protect our democratic stability and uphold the unity of our nation.”
Although acknowledging the accusations made by his opponents, Prabowo encouraged his followers to remain calm and peaceful.
“It is natural to feel unsettled in light of the current tensions,” he acknowledged, “and while many of you may have reacted passionately, I urge everyone to remain vigilant and approach the situation with a mindset focused on maintaining harmony and peace. Let us not succumb to provocations that seek to disrupt our societal tranquility.”
Prabowo stressed that showing restraint and maintaining a calm demeanor are essential in prioritizing the welfare of the Indonesian people and the unity of the country.
“I implore everyone to stay calm, be mindful, and exercise self-control. Let the Constitutional Court and its judges carry out their duties with integrity, focusing on the well-being of our people and the future of our beloved nation,” he concluded.
