Jakarta – Prabowo Subianto, the President-elect for the 2024-2029 term and Minister of Defense, paid a visit to his former superior from his time in the army, retired General Subagyo Hadi Siswoyo (HS), at his residence in Gondokusuman, Yogyakarta, on Sunday (2/6).
During the meeting, Subagyo congratulated Prabowo on being awarded the honorary four-star general rank at the end of February 2024.
“I extend my congratulations to you on the four-star general rank. It shows that Mas Bowo’s capabilities have been recognized,” said Subagyo.
Prabowo expressed his gratitude for the warm reception and mentioned that this visit marked his first visit to Yogyakarta after the Presidential Election.
“I have been wanting to visit many times, and finally, I am here. This is my first visit to Yogyakarta since the Presidential Election,” Prabowo said.
“Thank you, Mr. Bagyo,” he added.
Retired General Subagyo HS was Prabowo’s commander during his time in the Special Forces Command (Kopassus) from 1994-1995. After Subagyo, Prabowo took over as the Commander of Kopassus.
Aside from leading the red berets, Subagyo also held the position of Chief of Staff of the Army (KSAD) under three different presidential administrations: Soeharto, Abdurrahman Wahid, and Megawati Soekarnoputri.
He also served as a member of the Presidential Advisory Council (Wantimpres) during President Joko Widodo’s term.
