Analyst Says: Public Trust and Confidence in Prabowo-Gibran Examined in Kompas Research Response

Jakarta — Political analyst and lecturer at Universitas Al-Azhar Indonesia, Ujang Komarudin, observes a continuity of public trust and confidence from President Joko Widodo’s administration to the forthcoming Prabowo Subianto administration.

According to a recent Kompas Research survey, this transition of government from Jokowi to Prabowo is supported by various factors, reflecting high public confidence in the new administration.

Ujang emphasizes that the Indonesian public has shown great confidence in Prabowo-Gibran to lead the nation towards prosperity, justice, and international recognition, continuing the effective management of national issues like the economy and health that started under Jokowi.

He mentioned, “The Indonesian public’s strong confidence in Prabowo-Gibran is praiseworthy as they are expected to steer Indonesia towards a prosperous future in the next five years after their inauguration on October 20.”

Ujang believes that this positive momentum gives Prabowo-Gibran the opportunity to enhance Indonesia’s development and aim for societal prosperity during their term.

The public also anticipates that Prabowo-Gibran will continue the legacy of the successful Jokowi-Ma’ruf administration, as indicated by high levels of satisfaction and trust shown towards the end of their tenure.

Kompas Research findings reveal that the public expects positive evaluations and demands from the new Prabowo-Gibran administration, with a significant percentage confident in various national improvements.

The survey conducted by Kompas Research indicates that the public has high expectations for the Prabowo-Gibran administration, with confidence in areas such as elevating the nation’s international reputation, strengthening defense, improving economic growth, creating job opportunities, and ensuring food sovereignty.

The survey, conducted from May 27 to June 2, 2024, through face-to-face interviews with 1,200 randomly selected respondents across Indonesia, highlights the public’s optimism and confidence in the new administration’s ability to bring about positive change and development in the country.
