During the 79th Independence Day Ceremony at the State Palace in IKN, North Penajam Paser, a heartwarming moment was captured between Indonesian President Joko Widodo and President-elect for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto. The two leaders were seated next to each other, with Prabowo on Jokowi’s right and First Lady Iriana Joko Widodo on his left.
After the ceremony inspector and the MC prompted Jokowi to proceed to the honor podium, Prabowo courteously waited for Jokowi to sit down first. Following the commemoration of the proclamation moments at the Nusantara Capital (IKN), Jokowi shook hands with Prabowo and the two were seen exchanging smiles and chatting as they sat down.
Prabowo was dressed in a black Javanese traditional beskap outfit with an Udeng blangkon, while Jokowi wore a Kutai traditional attire for the 79th Independence Day celebration. Their camaraderie and closeness were evident throughout the event, with Prabowo arriving at the Nusantara Capital and greeting Jokowi with a namaste gesture before the ceremony.
