Prabowo Subianto Bersama PM Papua Nugini Berdiskusi Tentang Kemitraan Bilateral

Port Moresby – Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto recently visited Papua New Guinea and met with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister James Marape on Wednesday (21/8).

During their meeting, Prabowo and Marape discussed various issues of mutual interest, including bilateral and international matters, and ways to strengthen the longstanding strategic partnership between Indonesia and Papua New Guinea.

Prabowo emphasized the synergies between the two countries and highlighted potential areas for cooperation such as food production, agriculture, fisheries, mining, minerals, and tourism. He expressed Indonesia’s eagerness to enhance collaboration with Papua New Guinea.

In the field of education, Prabowo extended an invitation for Papua New Guinean youths to study at the Indonesian Defense University (Unhan). He also mentioned that Indonesia is opening its military schools and institutions for international students, including those from Papua New Guinea.

Marape praised Prabowo’s dedication to promoting peace and reconciliation, as well as continuing programs initiated by President Joko Widodo. He highlighted the significant improvement in the relationship between the two countries, leading to new opportunities for collaboration.

Marape also mentioned the positive outcomes of improved relations, which have facilitated business opportunities and enhanced cross-border movement of people and goods between Papua New Guinea and Indonesia.(RR)
