Australian cadets from the Royal Military College-Duntroon (RMC-D) expressed their admiration for the discipline and hard work shown by Indonesian cadets during their visit to the Military Academy (Akmil) in Magelang.

This sentiment was shared during the visit by Australia’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Defence, Richard Marles, who was invited by Indonesia’s Defense Minister, Prabowo Subianto, to sign an enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (DCA) between the two countries.

Maxwell Jon Kiernan, an Australian cadet, highlighted the strong work ethic and discipline of the Indonesian cadets at Akmil, stating that it was the most important observation he made during the visit.

Lola Kathleen May Charles, another cadet from RMC-D, also praised the dedication of the Indonesian cadets to their training and studies, finding it truly inspiring.

During the nine-day visit, ten Australian cadets engaged in activities with the Indonesian cadets, including mentoring sessions, language classes, and visits to cultural landmarks like Borobudur and Prambanan temples.

Captain Damon Radford, an exchange officer, emphasized the importance of the visit in fostering cooperation between Australia and Indonesia through the Foreign Academy Exchange Program (FAEP). He highlighted the historical connection with Minister Prabowo Subianto, who participated in the program in 1974.

The program will continue with Indonesian cadets visiting Australia from October 10-21, strengthening the ties between the cadets of both countries.
