After Visiting Four Countries, Prabowo Subianto Proceeds to Malaysia, Beginning with a Meeting with Sultan Ibrahim

During his first official visit to Malaysia on Saturday, September 7, Indonesian Defense Minister and President-elect Prabowo Subianto met with the King of Malaysia, His Majesty Seri Paduka Baginda Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim.

The meeting centered on various strategic issues, with Prabowo underscoring his dedication to exploring further areas of cooperation between Indonesia and Malaysia.

“I value the strong relationship between our two countries and will continue to strive to enhance our cooperation, especially in the defense sector,” Prabowo stated.

“I appreciate your well wishes, and I hope our partnership continues to grow for our mutual benefit,” he added.

Prabowo and Sultan Ibrahim, who have been close friends for over 40 years since their military training at Fort Bragg, USA, expressed hope during their warm meeting that bilateral cooperation between the two nations would remain robust, particularly with the upcoming 44th General Border Committee (GBC) Malindo meeting aimed at fostering collaboration on border issues.

Prabowo’s visit to Malaysia came after working trips to four other countries—Brunei Darussalam, Laos, and Cambodia—as well as a personal visit to Thailand, where he met former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra and the newly elected Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra. (RR)
