IKN — President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has stated that president-elect Prabowo Subianto is dedicated to continuing and accelerating the development of the Ibu Kota Nusantara (IKN) project. This commitment was expressed during a briefing with the Indonesian Cabinet, as well as TNI and Polri officials, at Istana Garuda in IKN, East Kalimantan, on Thursday, September 12.
Jokowi mentioned that the IKN project is still in progress and may take 10, 15, or even 20 years to complete. However, President-elect Prabowo has assured him that he will expedite the process. Jokowi stressed the importance of stability to achieve Indonesia’s vision of “Indonesia Maju” and the “Indonesia Emas 2045” agenda, emphasizing the need for synergy across all sectors, including TNI and Polri.
He emphasized the crucial role of a professional TNI and Polri in ensuring security and stability for the nation, stating that a country in conflict cannot progress. Jokowi highlighted the significance of small, humane gestures by TNI and Polri personnel in building public trust in these institutions. He cited examples such as a police officer collecting a school report for an orphan in Bandung and a TNI member assisting a mother whose motorcycle broke down in Pontianak.
Jokowi urged all parties to facilitate a smooth transition from his administration to Prabowo’s leadership, emphasizing the importance of a seamless handover to prevent any disruptions. He also called for full support for the upcoming regional elections, neutrality, and maintaining a conducive environment.
