Indonesian Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto wrapped up his working visit to Hanoi by meeting with Vietnam’s Prime Minister, H.E. Pham Minh Chinh, on Saturday, September 14.
During the meeting, Prabowo reaffirmed Indonesia’s commitment to maintaining cooperation in various sectors with Vietnam, a country that Indonesia considers a close and longstanding ally.
“We see Vietnam as a strong friend and partner, and we greatly respect Vietnam’s fight for independence, which has served as an inspiration to people all over the world,” Prabowo stated.
Prabowo also highlighted the significance of upholding regional stability and further enhancing the relationship between Indonesia and Vietnam in the coming years.
Moreover, Prabowo sought Vietnam’s backing for the joint leadership of Indonesia and the United States in the ASEAN Defence Ministers’ Meeting Plus Experts’ Working Group (ADMM-Plus EWG) on Military Medicine for the 2024-2027 term.
“Indonesia is also counting on Vietnam’s continuous support for the successful joint leadership of Indonesia and the United States in the ADMM-Plus EWG on Military Medicine for the 2024-2027 term,” Prabowo added.
The meeting was attended by Vietnamese high-ranking officials, including the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, as well as leaders from various ministries such as Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development, Public Security, Defense, Information and Communications, Natural Resources and Environment, Culture, Sports and Tourism, and Vietnam’s Ambassador to Indonesia.
