Ministers in the Red and White Cabinet convened at the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta to tackle the issue of laid-off PT Sritex employees. The meeting, led by Prabowo, tasked ministers with finding solutions for the affected workers. In attendance were Minister of Manpower Yassierli, Minister of State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi, and PT Sritex Curator Nurma Sadikin.
Prasetyo underscored the president’s concern for the workers and stressed the need to swiftly address the problems stemming from PT Sritex’s bankruptcy declaration in October 2024. The objective is to rehire approximately 8,000 employees with a revised work structure in the textile sector. Minister Yassierli praised the curator’s endeavors to potentially rehire former Sritex employees within a two-week timeframe.
Furthermore, Prabowo’s commitment to offering support and guidance is poised to alleviate the plight of PT Sritex employees affected by the dismissals. The Ministry of Manpower is actively safeguarding the rights of PT Sritex Group employees by ensuring they receive appropriate layoff compensation and other entitlements. The PT Sritex Curator Team is currently in the process of selecting investors to oversee Sritex’s assets under a new scheme, paving the way for the reemployment of the laid-off workers. This initiative aims to provide stability for the impacted employees and offer a resolution to their current predicament.
