BIN Pasundan emerged as the champion of the Livoli Main Division 2023, defeating LavAni in a tight five-set match with a score of 3-2 (25-19, 21-25, 22-25, 25-19, 15-12) in the grand final at GOR Jayabaya, Kediri, on Sunday (10/12) night. The match was watched by approximately 8,000 spectators, including the 6th President of Indonesia and LavAni club owner, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono (SBY).
BIN Pasundan coach, Ryan Masajedi expressed great joy and pride in the outstanding performance of his players who played fiercely until the fifth set and emerged as champions. The team displayed incredible teamwork and determination, with the support of the BIN management.
On the other hand, LavAni’s Assistant Coach, Erwin Rusni, acknowledged that his team’s performance slightly declined during the match. Despite playing exceptionally well in the final, they struggled mentally compared to the BIN players.
Both teams had previously defeated each other in the semi-finals and came out with their best formations for the final match. BIN Pasundan, led by Farhan Halim, Doni Haryono, Fikri Mustofa, Cep Indra, and Nizar Zulfikar in the setter position, took the lead in the opening set with a score of 25-19.
LavAni fought back in the second set and played more solidly, winning at 25-21. They continued to apply pressure in the third set, maintaining a slim lead and eventually winning at 25-22, taking a 2-1 lead.
However, BIN refused to give up. They improved their serves and reception, tightening their defense to resist LavAni’s attacks in the fourth set. Farhan Halim and his teammates took a commanding lead and ultimately won the set at 25-19, forcing a decisive fifth set.
The fifth set was intense, with both teams exchanging points. LavAni initially took the lead at 8-5 during the switch of courts. However, BIN managed to equalize at 9-9 and then took the lead at 12-10. Despite LavAni’s efforts to close the gap, BIN ultimately won the set at 15-12, securing their first Livoli Main Division title.
In addition to receiving the trophy, BIN Pasundan also received a coaching fund of Rp50 million, while LavAni, as the runner-up, received Rp30 million. Fikri Mustofa Kamal, the spiker for BIN Pasundan, was honored as the Future Player of the Livoli Main Division 2023 and received a trophy and a coaching fund of Rp5 million.
