Doha, Qatar – President-elect of Indonesia for the 2024-2029 term, Prabowo Subianto, had a meeting with Qatar’s leader, Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, at the Amiri Diwan Palace in Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday (15/5).
Prabowo extended his well wishes to Emir Sheikh Tamim, hoping for his health, prosperity, and the continuous success and progress of Qatar. Accompanied by Vice President-elect, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, the discussion primarily revolved around strengthening relations between the two countries, particularly in the defense sector.
Emir of Qatar also expressed optimism regarding the further advancement of bilateral relations to Prabowo and Gibran. Following this, Prabowo and Gibran met with Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani.
During their meeting, Prabowo and the Qatar PM addressed the current situation in Gaza and the Palestinian occupied territories. Prabowo expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong relations and friendship between Indonesia and Qatar for the mutual benefit of both nations.
Welcoming Prabowo and Gibran at the Amiri Diwan Palace were Qatar’s Minister of Defence, H.E. Khalid bin Mohammad Al Attiyah, the Chief of the Amiri Diwan, H.E. Sheikh Saoud bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, and the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi.
