Doha, Qatar — Prabowo Subianto, the newly elected President for the term 2024-2029, highlighted the significance of establishing a solid foundation for national development during the Qatar Economic Forum held in Doha, Qatar from May 14 to 16, 2024.
During a discussion with Haslinda Amin, the Southeast Asia International Correspondent for Bloomberg, Prabowo reiterated that nation-building is an ongoing process. He praised President Joko Widodo for laying a strong foundation for future progress in Indonesia.
Prabowo emphasized his commitment to building on this foundation, with a primary focus on ensuring food security for the nation. He also stressed the importance of self-reliance and security in food and energy as his top priorities.
Furthermore, Prabowo expressed his determination to address malnutrition issues among Indonesian children by implementing a free lunch program to combat hunger. He assured that adequate funding for this program would be provided through efficient and bold fiscal management under his leadership.
In addition, Prabowo pledged to continue the policy of industrial downstreaming to increase value and reduce dependency on imported industrial goods. He believes that this approach is crucial for Indonesia to evolve into an advanced industrial society.
Prabowo reiterated that his strategic plan aims to achieve sustainable prosperity for Indonesia, emphasizing the need for collaboration with international partners. At the Qatar Economic Forum, he was joined by Vice President-elect for 2024-2029, Gibran Rakabuming Raka.
